Good food, good friends, good times.
In class, we were taught that the correct way to ask for a beer was to say “en öl”, which translates to “a beer.” Today a friend taught me a little civility. To appear slightly more dignified than a two year old who’s a bit cranky because he’s late for his nappykins, try “Jag skulle vilja en öl”, or “I would like a beer.” You’ll get a few impressed looks that way. For a sure conversation opener, try “Min igelkot e inte dum,” which means “My hedgehog isn’t stupid.” As explained by this brilliant man, no one will believe that that’s the only thing you know to say in Swedish, and they’ll instantly badger you with questions.
Anyways. I learned how to politely order a beer with a classmate of mine and his girlfriend. We went to one of the nations and had one of their cheap dinners. 50 SEK (7.75 CAD) got you a double burger with bacon, egg, and pineapple. Pineapple. If I still had a phone, I would’ve shared its gloriousness with the world, but instead my stomach got all the fun.
Last friday one of my mentors had a crayfish party. It’s pretty much what it sounds like, only more surprisingly delicious. My mentor just sent around some pictures from the night, so check them out. I really wish I could remember more than 5 people’s names from the party.
HEY: I didn’t realize that I hadn’t put up a permanent link to the gallery. You guys have to tell me about stuff like this, you can’t expect me to notice on my own. I don’t read what I write, I just spew it out to you. <3

what kind of class teaches you how to ask for a beer? \I thought that all you needed to know in a foreign language was “please” and “thank you” Now I know how much more interesting a few extra words can make a meeting, It seems to me that you are spending all your time either eating or drinking. Have you been to any classes, other than ones that teach you how to ask for a beer?,
Do you own a tailcoat for singing in the choir that you’ve joined? If so, do you hvae it with you in Europe? I hope that you have a great time with the group. Carmina Burana is a wonderful load of fun, but it does require women, like all good things! 🙂 Just a bunch of dirty drinking songs really…What a great way to spend an evening!
The best class ever, that’s what. We also learned vin[wine] and snaps[spiced shots of hard liquor]. Please and thank you are actually the same word, “tack”, so we had 50% more free time to learn booze words. I’ve been to all of my classes, but I figured that letting you guys in on EDA075’s back face culling and EDA110’s red-black tree insertion and deletion algorithms wasn’t as interesting as drunkenness.
I don’t, which is the problem. I have a tux jacket back in markham, but it’s tailless. The conductor recommended that I try to borrow one from someone, but most people that have a tailcoat would be in the choir, so they’ll probably be using. angst.
There will be women eventually, there’s a rehearsal tomorrow with all 20 choirs, most of which are mixed.
Singers in sweden know how to party. They’re well trained 😉
