Alex's Alliterative Adventures

Thoughts on Programming, Life, and Travel

The fruits of my labour

The project is due in 36 hours.  I’ve been producing stuff more or less akin to this.  It’s pretty pimp, but I miss things like sunlight, and sleep.

That’s all in 3DS Max, but the project itself is a J2ME M3G game on a cell phone, so it looks much crappier.

Does Mr. Bobbinghead have a name? (or is that it?)

    I call him… “player”.

nice, i remember trying to use that program in highschool. I couldn’t figure out how to do anything, so I ended putting shapes together (not connected) and called it a model lol…

How many phones out there can actually play 3d stuff though?

It’s pretty complicated. The tutorials are really good, though, if you run through them you’ll have a hang of the basics in no time.

Approximately zero, and that’s the big issue. It’s a great course and I’m learning a lot, but in terms of application, there are at most a handful of phones that are even available for purchase right now that can run decent 3d apps, and no one has them. A vast majority of people have old shitty phones that they got from their phone company for $0 with a 3-year plan, and they’ll be lucky to run a calculator.

So I guess it would be fair to say that you’re learning some pretty ‘cutting edge’ information? It surely doesn’t hurt to be ahead of the pack in your field!

True, but there’s a difference between being ahead of the pack and being on an entirely diferrent continent as the pack.
